As a truly self run and independent campaign you can always trust me to stand up for the issues that matter the most to the people of Hoquiam without any corporate or party influence
We are suffering from a massive housing crisis in Hoquiam, when the price of a studio apartment can be comparable to Seattle we can tell that there are serious issues in local housing policy. To address these issues I will make 3 pledges that I will follow through if elected:
I will fight for local government to invoke the powers of imminent domain to seize unimproved, wasted, and crumbling buildings and land
When we have seized this land we will refurbish and repurpose these properties into affordable housing when possible
any more properties that cannot be refurbished and repurposed will be sold to developers at low prices on a contract to create affordable housing
In the face of a federal government cracking down on the free expression of ethnic, gender, sexual, and religious minority status we at the local level must stand up and include all people including those on the margins of society into our community and so I will make 6 pledges that I will follow through if elected:
I will fight for the city of Hoquiam to recognize Black History month (February) , Women's History Month (March) , Pride Month (June) , Hispanic Heritage Month (September-October) , Mental Health awareness month (May) and other months of recognition for minority groups.
I will fight for a committee on city council focusing on homelessness and mental health
I will fight for secularization of local government, removing references to religion or God in all local government affairs.
I will fight for a committee on city council focusing on youth action and involvement in our community
I will fight for council to order local police to not co-operate in unconstitutional and illegal actions from the federal government including martial law and ICE raids.
I will fight to instate a land acknowledgement for all local government meetings written by the native people of this land
to create a new great economy we must reorient our economy to benefit workers and small business using every tool at our disposal to give the residents of Hoquiam a fair deal. To achive these goals I will make 5 pledges that I will follow through if elected:
I will fight for low to no interest rate loans to new small business
I will fight to impose a big business fine on all big chains within city limits to help fund local small business
I will put worker co-operatives at the forefront of my small business agenda
I will fight for a committee on council focused on economic and technological development in Hoquiam
I will fight for the rights of workers in Hoquiam including those who work for local governments' rights to form and join a union.
To create a fair deal for the people of Hoquiam we must use government power to directly help the people, to achieve this I will make 5 pledges that I will follow through if elected:
I will fight for the creation of a "free store" available for low income residents to get household essentials including feminine hygiene products and clothing for children
I will fight for the creation of an official City of Hoquiam food bank to help feed our families
I will fight to lower fees in the water bill to reasonable levels
I will fight to provide free ambulances for all in Hoquiam.
I will co-operate with our partners in Aberdeen to create the framework to merge our EMT services
not only in Hoquiam but nation wide we have massive issues with political involvement, polarization, political stagnation, and openness in government. So to fix these issues I will make 3 pledges that I will follow through if elected:
I will fight to shift our council to be elected by a mixture of members elected from a city wide at large multi member district elected by a system of Single Transferable Vote and from each ward using ranked choice voting.
I will fight for every council meeting including committees to be recorded and posted online on a publicly available platform
I will fight to impose a term limit of 2 consecutive terms for both city council and the mayor
